This course is very different than all
other courses we tested. This is an
AUDIO course which provides tuition via mp3 files, with printed
material used only as backup.
As things go, the Audio format can be
a blessing or a curse. Here's why...
Reiki Methods Taught:
Like most Reiki courses, Reiki Master
Distance Learning Course teaches only Usui Reiki.
The Audio Lessons:
The backbone of this course is formed
by 25 mp3 audio files. In these files Dave Watson reads out course
material in a calm and measured voice. His narration and English
accent are clear.
Still, the audio format is limiting.
With printed courses, if you didn't get a sentence or want to
think it over you can just reread it or contemplate it for a moment
before continuing to read. With this audio course, however,
you have to rewind your audio player a bit trying to locate the
sentence, and only then continue. This can be a real pain. You
can use the transcripts to re-read a sentence, but unless you
pause the audio player first, Watson will continue to the next
sentence before you notice it. We find this distracting.
The lessons in these audio files are
first rate, and cover all Reiki basics, from The History of Reiki to
How to Teach Reiki as a Master. Putting the audio format aside, the
quality of these lessons is what helped this course win our 3rd
spot, over several other courses.
The Printable Material:
Unlike other courses, this course is
all about audio. This is why it contains only 29 pages of written
material, used to complement the audio files. The printable material
mainly includes Reiki Symbols and Reiki Hand Positions, which
clearly require pictures.
We do wish there was more reading
material in this course!
The course also includes transcripts
of all audio files, organized as three manuals. The text in these
transcripts was tailored for the audio files, not for reading as a
book, so it mostly includes 1-sentence paragraphs and is difficult
to use as a manual. We did not include these in the page number
count, as they do not provide any new material over the audio files.
The Attunements:
The attunement
process is simple, and basically the same as with Essence of Reiki:

You book a time
for the distance attunement.

At that time you follow a few
instructions clearly explained in the manuals, while you receive
the distant attunement from Dave Watson. There is no way to see
him as he provides the attunement.

That's all.
Our Summary:
If you find reading in English
difficult (due to bad eyesight, dyslexia or other reasons) - this
audio course is for you. No other Reiki course we know provides as
much audio tuition.
If you want to learn Reiki while
driving - no other course will suffice. We do not recommend learning
Reiki while driving.
However, with these cases aside we
strongly feel a good course based on written material such as the
other courses reviewed here would be better.
This course provides excellent
tuition and so it wins over several other courses we tested.
However, unless you really prefer audio we strongly feel you will
benefit more from The Ultimate Reiki Package or Essence of
Reiki.
