Upon
opening ReviewsNest we decided to donate part of our proceeds to
charity. After doing extensive research in this field, we
picked Children International as our favorite charity.
Besides donating ourselves to this organization, we also sprinkled
our site with ads asking for your help. Here are the reasons
why:
 Children
International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated
to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families
and communities. They achieve this goal primarily through child
sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual
sponsors (like us, and hopefully - like
you) who wish to address the children's immediate and
basic needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and
opportunities necessary for success by providing benefits and
supporting programs for each child - primarily in the areas of
education and health. The sponsorship program currently benefits
more than 300,000 impoverished children and their families in 11
countries throughout the world, including Chile, Colombia, the
Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico,
the Philippines, the United States and Zambia.
 Although
many so-called "charities" are in fact scams devised to take
your money while giving little (if any) to actual charity,
Children International is far from being a scam. They were
founded in 1936, and take pride in the fact that almost all of
their revenues actually reach the children (the small percentage
that doesn't goes to money-raising, advertising etc.). As such,
Children International has been highly rated by the American
Institute of Philanthropy (AIP). AIP's ratings are based on
percentage of revenues going to programs and the cost of raising
money, as well as an organization's willingness to disclose
financial information. In addition, Children International is a
member of the Better Business Bureau, and have been named by
Consumers Digest as a leading U.S. humanitarian relief charity.
 Sponsorship
is a very personal way to improve a needy child's life. It gives
you a chance to share a unique relationship with one special
child.
Through regular contributions, sponsors like us (and hopefully -
like you) help provide impoverished children with basic
necessities, such as medical and dental care, educational
assistance, durable clothing and shoes, improved living
conditions and much more.

 Because
such a high percentage of Children International's revenues
actually goes to help children, the monthly cost for you to
sponsor a child is only $18 per month. This is much much less
than with most other child sponsorship organizations (most other
organizations charge you between $32 and $45 per sponsorship).
In other words, compared with other charities
You pay Less, and the Child gets More.
This is the main reason we chose Children International as our
favorite charity. (And if you want to donate over $36 per
month, with Children International that amount will help two
children, not just one child + the organization's bank accounts)
